Niall Richard Murphy spoke thusly:
> >* OK gpo1.mail.iol.ie IMAP4rev1 v12.250 server ready
> >Dunno which one this is. Nick, Garrett? Care to elaborate?
>Basically if your mail system says leave it there then leave it there.
the original question was how to get rid of the message. the message
only occurred when he used pine. obviously the message is being
generated by the imap daemon - the message says that. the *reason*
why it's being generated is because he has pine configured to get his
mail via imap.
look at your pine config and have it get your mail from the local mail
spool and not from the imap/pop server. i don't use pine, so you're on
your own on how to accomplish that, but once pine starts looking at the
mail spool directly the message shouldn't reappear.
