I'm afraid your article is desperately near the definition of FUD.
"Linux is fragmenting!" is a fear mongering statement, and you provide no
proof. You discuss two different user interfaces and yet fail to mention
that both of those UI's use the same underlying technology (X and CORBA).
Both the KDE and GNOME developers have been working on interoperability.
And lastly the VA Linux Systems has more to gain from a mix of KDE and
GNOME then from a single UI - namely KDE and GNOME use different widget
libraries; very large ram and cpu consuming libs.
