Yes, I found that gdm, the Gnome graphical login was a buggy
piece of crap in some cases, so if that's what you're using,
simply change to kdm. I personally don't run KDE or Gnome
these days - XFCE/XFWM 3 was just released.
See /etc/X11/prefdm - it's a link to the desktop manager
you're using. 'ln -sf /usr/bin/kdm /etc/X11/prefdm' should
do the trick. Of course, if you're using KDM already, I'm
stumped.

Used worse S3s with my computer, but not this exact model.
Haven't heard of any problems with this.
