Hi
I like C++ How to Program aswell.
It depends on your level of experience with orher programming languages.
I seem to remember having a book called Advanced Datatypes and Algorithms in
C++
which was very good and covered pretty much every aspect of C++ while
providing some very useful exercises and some nice practical examples.

I wouldn't recommend just starting with one of the VC++ books ( well some
people do that )
as you pick up some really bad programming habits that you will spend ages
trying to get rid of.
