[ILUG] No so simple question

now I'm in trouble. GTK needs two libc6 functions, dgettext and
bindtextdomain which are not part of libc5. I need GTK libraries to be
working. What can I do?

Note: Upgrading distro is not an option and as I understand it, upgrading
standard c libraries is no trivial task
