Fear not, I have the latest gtk and glib on my libc5 redhat4.2 box so it can
be done. Those two babies can be got by installing the latest gnu gettext dist
from
ftp://sunsite.doc.ic.ac.uk/Mirrors/ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/gettext
