The problem as I see it is that there seems to be confusion about what we
are talking about.
We originally were talking about a party--you know, food, drinks,
conversation, even possibly some computing, definitely social in
nature--but now people seem to have run with the idea of an event.
I'm certainly not criticizing either, as the two are not mutually
exclusive, but with LAID happening in October, perhaps we could wait on
event planning for a couple more months. Just from the experience of
arranging a relatively small--around 200 people--(but public) social
gathering of multiple groups (see http://www.main.org/cybercity for more
info onthe current event, though the one i did was two years ago), this
will probably be more of a frustrating planning project. That one took
a month to six weeks to do , and sounds less complicacted than this would
be.
Let's just do somehting social at a couple of people's houses first, eh?
Then we can plan something else, perhaps even at this party.
Just my 2 cents worth.
