Hi folks,
I've got two old 386es at hand, one of which I'd like of resurrect (as Linux
box, of course...). Which one depends partly on solving the memory problem:
No. 1 is an old Escom AMD386/40 with currently 8MB in 30pin SIMMs, so the
only way to get more memory in there would be to get four (or eight)
30pin 4MB SIMMS (and toss out 4(or 8)x1MB).
No. 2 is a Dell 333P (i386/33) with currently 4MB. It's using 72pin SIMMS
(to my surprise...). Unfortunately, it chokes on anything bigger than a 4MB
SIMM, so I'd need 72pin 4MB SIMMs to get any further with that machine.
So, if anybody has some 4MB SIMMs - either 30pin or 72pin - to spare, would
you please give me a shout so we can talk about the "how (much)?" ;-)
If possible, I'd prefer the 30pins, as the Escom machine is slightly faster
and can hold more memory (up to 32MB, the Dell only 16MB) - and I have
access to the BIOS (still haven't found out how to do that on the Dell), so
I don't have to worry about swapping hard drives... :-)
Thanks!
Thomas
