Hi all,
Second try at sending this, messed up with
reply-to's first time(again), sorry Thomas.
The (very small) company for which I work,
called Doolin Technologies, has been
producing Linux-based custom software
'solutions' for credit card processing
and other financial services for the past 6 months.
These 'solutions' have been produced to the order
of two Irish telecom's companies.
The principal client which ordered this software has
been piloting a system consisting of thousands
of credit card terminals which dial into mostly
Linux based servers. This client is also
planning to roll-out the system in other markets.
I suppose that this means that both the (very small)
company for which I work and the (much larger) client
are, to some extent, "selling linux" because the client
basically sells the linux based services to other
companies.
While working in the financial/banking IT area
(not especially exciting, I tell you) I have
also come across another company which, provides
custom financial networking services and software,
that is currently migrating to Linux.
Also Linux Solutions www.linsol.com have provided
Linux consultancy to both us and the client.
Since these financial types do not like giving
away any information at all about their systems,
and they may still regard this system as 'confidential' ,
I don't know whether they'd be happy to talk to
the press. However, you never know, they may be
desperate for publicity. If anybody is interested
in pursuing an interview or whatever, I can ask them.
Regards
Chekov Feeney
