They take ages to fsck after any incident where the machine stopped
running...
When I was on my Clearcase course, I asked what happened when the power
went...
and people looked at me as if I was demented...
Got back from the training course to find that we'd had a power cut, the
servers themselves had survived (being on UPS's), but the AIT 4-tape
autoloader had died... it took a month to get repaired (moral of the story,
don't use Sony gear!)
Crashes aren't the only reason for things being screwed up... in fact in my
case,
it's more likely that someone turned it off in general.. or that the kernel
I upgraded
to wasn't a happy camper (2.2.11).
