Heyas..
I've had a workhorse of a USR 56 Voice/fax modem for about a year now,
and it's always stood me in good stead. It was set to the default pnp
jumper settings, and was comfortably settled in on /dev/ttyS1. Now,
yesterday, I was asked for a lend of the modem for a little while, as a
friend wanted to download some email while his own modem was out of
action. However, when I got it back, I noticed that the jumpers had been
fiddled with, and now the modem no longer works in linux. I can get it to
work in windows98 on the same machine. It says it's on com3, 03E8-03EF,
IRQ 03, apparently. All grand. I can connect to any ISP I want to. I go
into linux, and it's detecting something on /dev/ttyS2 (my modem
obviously), but sets it the IRQ of 4. I've done 'setserial /dev/ttyS2 -b
IRQ 3', and my modem WILL dial up, and according to /var/log/messages, I
have got an i.p., and so on. But.. nothing. I can't ping/connect to
anything. There's gotta be a way for it to work, if windows can do it...
Anyway, hope someone can offer some advice...
