try removing the .Xauthority file from your users home directories.
if this is a redhat box there might be a .Xauthority that xdm uses/needs
so see what locate turns up.
"Subba Rao" spoke thusly:
>I have multiple user accounts on my machine. All "users" accounts are set, to
>be renewed by the root, every
>2 or 3 months.
>I invoke XDM at the end of startup scripts. I could login as any user and ever
>ything was fine.
>For some reason, now I cannot login to any "users" accounts via XDM. I can log
>in as root only.
>>From other machines, I can telnet and ftp to the "users", which suggests that
> the "users" accounts are fine.
>But, why are my "users" accounts gettting locked via XDM?
>The authentication, is successful, but the screen remains between, end of XDM
>signon screen and start of
>window manager screen.
>Any ideas, how to fix this problem is appreciated.
>Thank you in advance.
