[ILUG] X display resolution

 i'm using XFree86/SuSE 6.2 in college. i'd like the Xserver to run at a
higher resolution (it's 1024x... ATM), but i don't have root. ctrl-alt-+/-
doesn't work, using numpad or normal keys.

 any ideas?
