With the cost of connectivity, staff, hardware and running expenses, it will
be surprising to see how the "free" Irish ISP's can continue to operate and make a
profit without digging deep into the pockets of the other departments in their
respective companies. That or all services that extend beyond the simple requirements
of the home user (basically companies) get quite an expensive shafting from the
billing department.
I blame Linux (*G). Yep, at least if their was only Microsoft in the desktop market,
home users would be used to paying through the nose for computer related stuff and
be quite happy to pay monthly for an ISP and be /grateful/ for it! Instead, many feel
they deserve a free service, free source code, and then constantly whine about its quality!
