i was just wondering if anyone here has tried CUPS (the common UNIX
Printing System) and is it worth replacing lpr with, does it replace lpd
aswell? and are their any dificulties with other programs when trying to
print, for example would i need to change the print command in netscape or
does cups create a new '/usr/bin/lpr' ?

Its just because redhat have found another security problem with lpr and
have updates on their servers (to 0.43-2),whereas cups has reached 1.0
already! their isnt even a rpm for cups available (that i can find anyway)
would it be best to leave it a while so it can be tested more,or has it
been worked on longer than i think?
cheers.
