I don't think he could have "succeeded": The truth is in the details and
their implications for the future. Joe Public doesn't want the
details/doesn't think about these things & doesn't want to start/never
played with lego.
JP had to bring the audience with him. Think Bilge didn't know that?
Think he'd have taken up an invitation to be a discussion panellist at some
software conference with an audience of engineers?
Still, I wish he'd asked about how Bill came to write the original
version of DOS..... :-)
Something to make me feel better:
was moving 68Mb of StarOffice tarfile across a BNC
network last night (SCSI zip -> P/90/48Mb (win95) -> linux box).
Took a little over 5 minutes - 220Kb/sec.
Rebooted the box (annoyed) into Linux (RH5.2) and repeated the transfer.
2 mins 30 secs - 480Kb/sec.
Ah, well that identifies the bottleneck....
