[ILUG] smbfs with NetApp/CIFS

Is it possible to get smbfs to talk to a netapp running CIFS? I'm
getting odd errors from it. (machine not to hand for exact text). Any
particular configuration requirements on either end? Any hints as to how
to get it to give more useful info?
