And for our next trick we're going to install and configure a Linux box
in an hour.
At the end of the hour we'll have shown that you can:
Configure network and sound cards, and get both working. We'll have
music playing while we configure the rest of the system..
Connect a WinNT box to it and let them play over network neighbourhood.
Share a printer from the Linux box.
Create a Word DOC on the NT box, copy it into a home dir on the Linux
box and then open it in StarOffice on the Linux box. Print same Word DOC
from both the NT box and Linux box to a Linux box connected printer.
mkdir public_html in the (Linux) home dir of the NT user using Win
Explorer and copy a html file in there. Bring up IE4 on the NT box and
open the HTML file in the browser. We're thinking of using the Linux
Myths page for this.
Finally play Q3test or maybe Unreal Tournament on the Linux box.. it'll
rock on that huge display!
Can we do the above in an hour?
Oh yeah, as much as possible will be prepared. I'll burn SO5.1 and
Q3test/UT onto CD and maybe have a few scripts handy..
As you can see, Ian, Dermot, Mark and myself had a very productive two
and a half hours in Tribes on Saturday :)
Donncha.
