I have recently retired from work. During the last 30 year of my working life, I was involved in designing financial systems, on IBM s/38 and AS400 (midi frames), PC's were used, but only for programs like Excell etc. and internet. The PC's were part of a network together with the AS400. Since my retirement I have played with Windows and in general I do not share the negative views many Linux adepts have on Windows, admitedly, the first attempts of Bill Gates were not so good, but with XP, things have improved. I am now beginning to dabble in Linux, (dual boot with XP)so far not too many problems, except that the PC will not shutdown on exit and I cannot get the Linksys WRT54G router/AP to work. I have downloaded a wrt45gv3.3.03.6.tgz file, but did not know what to do with it. Thanks to Owen Kelly, I learned that I must uncompress it with tar zxvf, I'll try that and see what happens.
